I was born in Evansville, Indiana. I grew up in Howard County, Indiana and I now live in Peru, Indiana. I took great joy in participating in any kind of art. The first artistic creation was a chalk recreation of Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh. It still inspires me to this day. In middle school, I enjoyed the performing arts. My caretaker taught me the basics of the piano, and I played Saxophone and Baritone in band. I sang alto in Choir, and was even accepted into the Kokomo High School Choraliers. I still enjoy singing and dancing.
I married at a young age and have the support of my wonderful husband and son. I was always told a career in any art wasn’t realistic, so I did some career exploration classes at the local Work One office. Because I have equally high scores in both Art & Science and we came up with the field of Anthropology. Thus, I enrolled at IUK for a degree in Anthropology. Because I felt it was going to take too long to get out of a minimum wage job and into the career field, I joined the Navy. I served for almost 8 years, leaving with an honorable discharge, an AA and a Journeyman.
Now, I am a stay at home mom and have returned to the pursuit my art. I hope someday to continue my education in Anthropology and enjoy random research and writing. Through my research, I have learned that every piece of art has a story to tell, and every story can inspire a piece of art. I must keep a notebook (paper or digital) handy every time I research a topic. So many artistic ideas come to mind when I read. I really feel that art is at the core of my soul! I paint, draw, or craft using whatever materials I have available to me.
My original paintings are on display and for sale at the Miami County Artisan Gallery located at 20 N Broadway, Peru, IN 46970. You may purchase the originals in person or by visiting . Prints and a variety of items and accessories are available at:
